Code for Sustainable Homes and Water Efficiency

House builders are required to rate all new homes against the Code for Sustainable Homes. The right bathroom appliances can make a huge difference on the water efficiency of a dwelling.

Sustainability and water efficiency are the current buzz words. The bathroom industry has been responding to the new demands from the government and consumers for an eco friendly approach.

One simple but effective, positive step architects, builders, and home owners can make helping to reach code level 3 and reduce their carbon footprint is:

Energy Saving Shower Heads:

The amount of water saved by the energy efficient showerhead is dramatic. An old style shower head can use more than 20 litres of water every minute. Some of the EES showerheads flow at a rate of 7 litres a minute and can save a family of four up to 56,000 litres of water a year. This is not the only positive effect; there is also saving on the cost of energy used to heat the water in the first place, meaning savings in money seen on the consumers utility bills can be hundreds of pounds per year.
The less energy used and water wasted means less carbon emissions and a hugely reduced impact on the environment making this a worthwhile step for everyone.
